Emmanuel Lutheran Church celebrates the 100th anniversary Scouting.
34 scout and leaders from four troops (T208, T205, T236, T552 & T236) and two packs (P213 & P874) came together at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (ELC) Sunday, February 14th to celebrate the 100th year of Scouting. This celebration was one week late as the weather did not cooperate on the actual date of February 7th. However, the scouts persevered and the celebration went off without a hitch. Scouts participated in almost all aspects of the worship service. The scouts made the communion bread at one of their scout meetings, delivered the readings, helped with communion and even played bagpipes and trumpets a few times throughout the service ending with Taps. Many solemn aspects of scouting were included in the service such as the reading of the Boy Scout Oath with the accompanying Bible verse. Even the congregation was including in the scout ritual of circle up before the closing of the service. After the service, in the narthex, scouts and leaders recited the 12 points of the Scout Law along with the accompanying Bible verse. After the ceremonies, punch and cake (baked & decorated by Lindsay Bruns) were shared by all. ELC is the charter organization of Troop #208 that meets at the church every Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
