Jesus Christ is Risen Today!!!  He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!  Alleluia! Alleluia!

Charles Wesley author of our sermon hymn this morning points clearly to the Gospel of our salvation, the message that “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.  Though Jesus went to the Cross willingly, no longer does the grave nor tomb contain Him.  Today we can lift up our voices in ‘Hymns of praise’ so that ‘sinners to redeem and save’ He, Jesus Christ would ‘redeem our loss’.  “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” for us and for our salvation.

The message today that “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” is the victory lap in racing, raising the Stanley Cup or Lombardi Trophy, but more than a tangible piece of sports memorabilia that is kept in a trophy case, the message of salvation is of the celebration of the triumph of the Gospel  of our salvation`by our Savior. Jesus Christ victory we celebrate today does not diminish ‘the pains which he endured’ where He ‘endured the cross and grave’.  Today is where the promises made in the Garden of Eden, remembered as the Israelite people were enslaved and finally set free from Pharaoh, wandered in the desert and entered the promised land and saw the building of the temple for God’s Glory in Jerusalem so His people could give ‘praise eternal as his love’.  This day we gather not to let Jesus out of the tomb, but to let us in so we can see “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.

Today we join our voices with the saints of all time and place and ‘Sing we to our God above’ and ‘praise him, all you heav’nly host’ with shouts of praise.  For out of the institution of the meal on Maundy Thursday and the sadness of Good Friday, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, our Savior, “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”!  We stand upon His shoulders on ‘our triumphant holy day’ with boundless energy and enthusiasm because of our Savior and ‘our salvation have procured’ by His resurrection from death and the grave for us and our salvvation.

For today we have been lifted from the grave that satan binds us in with reminders of our sin, by our Savior Who triumphed over him and brings us to His table set for us as our Good Shepherd Who offers us eternal life.  This is the victory we hold before our closing eyes when we take our fleeting breath, so that ‘Hymns of praise then let us sing’ and with ‘the angels ever sing’ that “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”!

Where we stand this Easter morning is holy ground proclaiming “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”.  Today we should not fear death, but look in faith to and in the promises of God for us and for our salvation.  Many times, I have personally stood on this holy ground of celebration of Jesus Christ resurrection we remember today.  As a called minister of God, I have sung the hymns of faith pointing to the victory Jesus Christ offers us today. One of the most powerful experiences for me personally was in Hays Medical Center as a child of God, who was redeemed by the blood of the Lamb of God was taking their final breath.  It was at this moment that God reached down and through His gift of grace used my voice with our hymn this morning to comfort the child of God and family as they entered eternity and by God’s grace did not fear death, but looked to the truth of our hymn. May we today join our voices as one and sing together as one of the victory we believe in as we proclaim the Gospel of our salvation that, “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”!

1 Jesus Christ is ris'n today, Alleluia!  our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!  suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

2 Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!  unto Christ, our heav'nly king, Alleluia! who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!  sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

3 But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!  our salvation have procured; Alleluia! now above the sky he's king, Alleluia!  where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!

4 Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!  praise eternal as his love; Alleluia! praise him, all you heav'nly host, Alleluia!  Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

Jesus Christ is Risen Today!!!  He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!  Alleluia! Alleluia!

AMEN!
